Counted Cross Stitch Pattern
I remember the day my babcia came to visit us here in the United States. It was a long trip from Poland for her but she came to see her grandchildren and that made her brave, intrepid and determined.
With her came many gifts from her and my uncle for my baby brother, myself and my older sister. One of the gifts my sister received was a babushka doll - a Polish nesting doll. I remember being fascinated when Babcia removed the top of the doll to show my sister. She took out the next doll and reassembled the outer doll.
My sister took over at that point, removing doll after doll, each getting smaller and smaller, until she had a row of five dolls in a row before her. She spent at least an hour hiding doll after doll then taking them apart again.
That was the inspiration for this pattern. Here you have the outer doll fully assembled and waiting for your loving touch. Pair it with it's sister pattern to have a sense of the wonder of finding another sweet surprise waiting for you.
